July 17th, 2009Legendary Gary Player makes his annual visit at Thracian CliffsOn July 17th, 2009 Gary Player made his annual inspection to the golf course at Thracian Cliffs Golf and Spa Resort. The purpose of this visit was to inspect the final stages of the course construction.
Mr. Player and his associates from Gary Player Design were fascinated to see how much the course has changed since last year. The course routing utilizes the stunning white cliffs and presents vistas that Player says rival any golf course anywhere in the world. The Black Knight who had designed more than 300 golf courses around the globe said that “this is the only golf course he has been to where from each of the 18 holes you have a view over the sea”.
Local and international media representatives had the pleasure to walk through some of the 18 holes with Mr. Player. He demonstrated his perfect shot from different greens, tees and bunkers.
With 8 holes already seeded and being maintained and the remainder awaiting to be seeded before the end of the year, the full 18 holes are expected to open for play in the summer of 2010.
Neil Coulson, Operations Director of Braemar Golf, who are conducting the construction management and grow-in of the course and will also manage the golf facilities when open, added “This is a world class development in an exceptional location. We are delighted to be working with Gary Player Design, GHM and Thracian Cliffs and have no doubt that Thracian Cliffs will provide one of the world’s truly memorable golf experiences”.
