Gary Player is a legend in his own time. The most successful international golfer ever. Player has achieved the kind of worldwide acclaim reserved for only a handful of sporting greats. He has won 164 professional golf tournaments worldwide, including 18 Major Championships on the regular PGA Tour and Champions Tour combined - and most notably, he captured golf’s coveted Grand Slam in 1965. Famous around the globe as the Black Knight, Mr. Fitness and the International Ambassador of Golf, Gary Player is also a renowned golf course architect with 300 design projects throughout the world. The umbrella company, Black Knight International includes Player Real Estate, Gary Player Design, Gary Player Enterprises and The Player Foundation, which raises money for underprivileged children through a series of Gary Player Invitational events staged around the world. While Gary Player remains committed to his business ventures and philanthropic efforts, he enjoys spending time with wife Vivienne and family, and escapes to his stud farm in South Africa whenever his busy schedule affords him the opportunity. Breeding thoroughbred racehorses has been a passion for Player for over 20 years and he has since bred more than 1500 winners, including the 1994 English Derby winner Broadway Flyer. In recognition of his achievements in golf as well as his dedication to charity, Player has received awards including the Laureus Lifetime Achievement Award and the 2006 Payne Stewart Award. He currently serves as the Global Ambassador to the World Golf Hall of Fame and has been dubbed the Black Knight and The World’s Most Traveled Athlete™ with over 14 million miles traveled.
